Difference between pressure and general pressure
pressure (unit: MPa, N/mm²)= general pressure ÷ pressure area. Therefore, the actual pressure generated by the same press will change significantly under different mold or workpiece contact areas. For example, if a 1000 kN press acts on a 100 cm² area, the pressure is 1 MPa; If the area is reduced to 10cm², the pressure rises to 10 MPa.
Key to selection: give consideration to total force and pressure requirements
- material molding often requires specific minimum pressure (such as composite plate hot pressing requirements ≥ 2 MPa);
- when selecting equipment, the matching relationship between the effective platen area and the pressure required by the process must be calculated;
- the “rated pressure” in the manufacturer parameter table refers to the total force, and the pressure needs to be converted by the user.
In short:the press is calibrated according to general pressure, but the process effect depends on the actual pressure-it is determined by the total force and the force area.
