Differences in Core Structure and Working Principles

High-pressure water screw compressors inject an appropriate amount of clean cooling water into the screw chamber, utilizing the high specific heat capacity of water to achieve efficient cooling and sealing, allowing for higher pressure ratios and continuous high-pressure operation; whereas high-pressure oil-free screw compressors rely entirely on precise gear synchronization and air circuit isolation design, achieving high-pressure output through multi-stage compression and inter-stage cooling, with no lubricant coming into contact with the airflow at any point.

Comparison of Application Scenarios

  • High-pressure water screw compressors: Suitable for industrial applications where moderate gas purity is required and stable output of 15–40 bar pressure over the long term is needed, such as PET bottle blow molding, cement transportation, and certain chemical processes.
  • High-pressure oil-free screw compressors: Designed specifically for industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, food, and breathing air that have strict standards regarding oil content (such as ISO 8573-1 Class 0), with output pressures typically ranging from 10 to 30 bar, emphasizing zero oil contamination and compliance with certifications.

Maintenance and Energy Efficiency Features

Water screw systems require a water treatment unit (for softening, filtering, and circulating cooling), with maintenance focusing on water quality management; oil-free screws depend on high-grade bearings and rotor dynamic balancing, being more sensitive to installation foundations and operating environments. Both are more energy-efficient than traditional piston types, but oil-free models offer slightly better efficiency in medium and low pressure ranges, while water screw compressors have advantages in temperature rise control under ultra-high pressure conditions.
