ISO 8573 analysis of compressed air quality grade under standard

according to the international standard ISO 8573-1:2010, the compressed air quality grade is defined by three parameters: solid particles (Class), moisture (Class) and oil content (Class). Among them, the grade of solid particles (such as Class 1) clearly defines the maximum allowable particle size and concentration-Class 1 requires that the concentration of particles ≤ 0.01 µm should not exceed 20,000/ m³ (Within the specified particle size range), and need to be achieved by efficient filtration technology.

note:the nominal accuracy of the filter (such as 0.01 µm or 1 µm) only reflects its physical interception capability and is not equivalent to ISO 8573. Class 1 cleanliness depends not only on the accuracy of the filter element, but also on the test method, airflow stability, no leakage downstream and complete purification system (including pre-filtration, Main filtration, adsorption and other links).

A 1 micron filter can only meet the requirements of Class 4 or Class 5 particles in ISO 8573-1 (for example, Class 5 allows ≥ 1 µm particles ≤ 5,000,000/ m³), Class 1 cannot be reached separately. To achieve Class 1, multi-level precision filtration combination (including ultra-efficient ULPA filter element) must be adopted, and strict process control and regular inspection must be coordinated.

  • 0.01 µm filter is one of the key components to achieve Class 1 particle index.
  • 1 µm filters are commonly used in Class 4-Class 5 pretreatment or general industrial applications.
  • The level cannot be determined by filtering accuracy alone-it must be certified according to the measured data of ISO 8573-1.
