In the production process of lithium battery, compressed air is widely used in key links such as electrode coating, pole roll pressure, liquid injection, pneumatic control of clean workshop and maintenance of environmental positive pressure. Any trace amount of oil, particles or water vapor may cause short circuit inside the battery, electrolyte decomposition or batch failure-therefore,lithium battery factory must adopt oil-free air compressorto provide clean compressed air in the true sense.
Why must it be oil-free?
The lithium battery production process requires extremely strict air quality requirements: electrode slurry is extremely sensitive to impurities; The liquid injection process needs to avoid side reactions between oil vapor and electrolyte (such as LiPF); If the clean room gas source contains oil, the accelerated high-efficiency filter is blocked and the HEPA system is polluted.
Mandatory requirements of international standards
- basisISO 8573-1 Class 0standard, clean compressed air requires “zero oil content” (≤ 0.01 mg/ m³, and no oil mist, oil vapor and oil condensate);
- this level can only passtrue oil-free compression technology(Such as oil-free screw, oil-free scroll, and water-lubricated screw), range hood of them cannot meet Class 0 even if multi-stage oil removal filter is added;
- mainstream lithium battery head Enterprises (Ningde era, BYD, LG New Energy) all listed Class 0 oil-free air as a rigid condition for the entry of EHS.
